Subscribers receive a handpicked, beautifully wrapped book posted out from our bookshop either monthly, every other month, or every four months depending on which package you choose.

Our booksellers carefully choose every book using information about the reader from a questionnaire we send them, and all their expert knowledge and love of books. Our focus is on new or unusual books to make sure subscribers receive something they won’t already have read.

A book subscription is an ideal gift – for yourself or a friend; a present for a colleague or for a booklover in your family. It’s the perfect way to make sure whoever you gift a subscription to will never be without a good book to hand!

At the moment, we’re only able to offer subscriptions for UK addresses.

We are so happy to offer reading subscriptions for young readers! Choose from picture books for the youngest readers, or paperbacks for 6-8 year olds, 9-12 year olds and teens.

A reading subscription for a young reader is the ideal way to make sure they’re never without a great book to enjoy! Explore new worlds, experience history, go on adventures, solve crimes – our expert children’s booksellers will make sure they always receive books to help their love of reading grow.

For picture book subscription for the youngest readers, we ask the gift-giver to tell us a few details about the child they’re gifting the subscription to. That way the books will arrive in the post as a lovely surprise – a gift for the parents as well as the tiny reader!

For our other young reader subscriptions, the recipient will be sent a questionnaire to complete and each of their books will be a recently published one that fits with their likes and needs. With their first book, the young subscriber will receive a reading diary and exclusive bookmark so that they can keep track and make notes about the books they receive.

All of the exclusive artwork for the subscription bookmarks, reading diary and gift tags are based on the wonderful mural in our children’s department, painted by the award winning children’s author and illustrator Katharine McEwen.
