Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro

Bookseller Review by Miriam:
‘I read this book 2 weeks before writing this review and am still thinking about it! Klara, the central AI character in this disturbing sci-fi, near future novel, seems to me to show more emotional intelligence than her humans. Questions are posed on the nature and limitations of human and inhuman love, faith, loyalty, service and ultimately, obsolescence. As she is solar-powered, Klara sees the sun simply as a life-force to be harnessed for the good of her owner. I felt great affection for Klara, an android navigating a world of pain and pleasure – it made a truly thought-provoking read!’
