Writers Group

Writers’ Group

A course in the Bookshop Writers’ Café, for a group of up to eight dedicated writers that runs alternate Wednesdays, in term time (13 September – 14 December, 4 January – 22 March and 19 April – 21 June), from 7.00–9.00pm.

The group will be facilitated by Lisa Meekison, a local writer who has led the Bookshop Writers’ Group for six years.

Each meeting will include a discussion on topics ranging from character creation to pitching your work, and the opportunity to focus on your works-in-progress through in-depth critiquing from the group. The course will also include industry talks given by writers, editors, publicists and/or agents.

The course is £375 and, in addition to the meetings, group members will receive two books on writing practice and a 15% discount on books purchased in the Bookshop through the duration of the course. Upon completion of the course, will be invited to join our Alumni Group, a thriving community that shares support and special events.

“Being a part of the Sevenoaks Bookshop Writers Group been an incredibly important part of my journey towards becoming a writer. The group is small and friendly and has so many positives. It gave me ‘permission’ to call myself a writer; provided much needed momentum to keep me on track, regularly creating and sharing pieces with the group; and opened my eyes to the many different routes towards being published. With a wide range of topics up for discussion and a series of very credible guest speakers. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my two years with this group and would recommend it to anyone who wants to write.”
