The Misadventures of Margaret Finch by Claire McGlasson

£9.99

Bookseller Review:

‘I’ve so enjoyed the author’s imaginative take on Blackpool in the late 1930s. She sends the socially awkward young Cambridge graduate Margaret Finch there to work for the newly established Mass Observation project to study the working classes on holiday.  There she bumps into the larger than (real) life character of Harold Davidson, the disgraced vicar of Stiffkey, who was there trying to drum up  popular support. The irony of the reader observing Margaret trying to observe a social group she doesn’t understand is both humorous and touching and very readable.’
